Spontaneous Trip

So I made one of the most spontaneous trips of my life this past week. My mom was in Ioka with Halee and Tragdon. Lacee was at EFY and my dad was back in Arizona. Monday morning I got back from my run and was thinking about how fun it would be to be in Utah with my mom. And then I started thinking I could totally go to Utah today. Kyle had finals so he was going to be busy and very distracted. The girls were both old enough that I could make the 6 hour drive by myself. I talked it over with Kyle and he was of course very supportive. So I called my mom and asked if it would be ok if we came out that day. It was so last minute, but she was so excited that I was going to come. I hurried and packed up the car and in a matter of a few hours we were on the road.

It was so much fun! The girls were awesome on the trip, Abby slept on the way there and the way back. Jules didn't sleep on the way there, but she was awesome and so sweet the entire time.
Juliet didn't sleep at all again that first night. I don't know why she does that, but it is so hard. Especially because I didn't have Kyle to trade off with. About 3:30 in the morning I went downstairs to try and rock her to sleep. Luckily my mom came down to use the bathroom around that same time and she offered to rock her so I could sleep. I got a solid hour and then went back to grab Jules and my mom had gotten her to sleep. She is a miracle worker. So I was able to get a couple more hours. The next two nights Jules slept really really well.

The First day we headed up to the farm where my Grandma grew up. They are tearing down the old house and we wanted to see it one last time. It was really cool up there. They had 3 week old little kittens. The kids loved them. They were so sweet. There was this huge tom turkey that wouldn't stop chasing us. I really disliked him. I will enjoy my thanksgiving meal even more now.

Other than that we played outside, took a million walks and visited the little baby horse. It is so beautiful at my grandma's house.  I haven't stayed there for years so it was so fun to be there with my girls. I hope we get that opportunity again and again.

Abby and one of the little kittens. She was so sweet with them.

In front of the old house. My great grandparents raised their 9 children in this house. So cool.

Climbing the trees!

That horrible turkey. I really didn't like him.

An old milk can that my great grandfather used. They would milk the cows and put them in these cans. Then they would put them in the canal to keep them cool. The milk man would pick them up straight out of the canal. How cool is that?

Running along the lane in the morning. It is so beautiful out there. The lane is a half mile long so its perfect to run up and down.

Pink ice cream in an ice cream cone. Abby was a little spoiled by her mema.

Headed out for a walk.

The view from the top of the lane. We used to float down this canal every summer when I was little and we would ice skate on it in the winter. Now it is so grown over that we can't do it anymore. Its one of the things I miss the most about my childhood. Those were really good times.

We always see this sign on the way out and back in the canyon in Colorado. Shouldn't that read road closed?

Playing outside. We seriously couldn't get enough.

Meet Maximus, the newest addition to the Nelson Farms. He was dang cute and I loved him.

The trip was awesome and it ended with a huge surprise. Wednesday night I had just put jules down and my dad shows up! He couldn't stand that we were in Utah without him so he came out early to surprise all of us. Abby was so excited to see her poppi.

We missed Kyle like crazy. But he rocked all of his finals. And he is only 1 more day away from officially being a 3rd year dental student! We survived 2nd year! Go us!
